Mykhailo Mudryk Provisionally Suspended After Positive Drugs Test

Mykhailo Mudryk has been provisionally suspended after a positive drugs test, confirmed by the Football Association (FA). Mudryk, absent from Chelsea’s last five matches, was initially cited as unwell by manager Enzo Maresca. However, reports reveal the Ukraine international produced a contaminated ‘A’ sample and now awaits the results of a ‘B’ sample to confirm the findings.

The club released a statement affirming their support for the FA’s testing programme, with Mudryk categorically denying the intentional use of banned substances. The winger, who has struggled since his £89m move to Chelsea in January 2023, last featured in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Heidenheim on November 28, where he scored.

Mudryk expressed shock on Instagram, insisting he has never knowingly breached anti-doping rules and is cooperating to uncover the cause of the result. This incident adds further scrutiny to anti-doping protocols within football, as players are reminded they bear full responsibility for any banned substances found in their system, regardless of intent.
