Man Utd Manager Rúben Amorim Confirms Mason Mount’s Extended Injury Layoff
Rúben Amorim, Manchester United’s head coach, has confirmed that midfielder Mason Mount will be sidelined for several weeks due to a muscle injury. Despite this setback, Amorim remains committed to supporting Mount during his recovery, ensuring the England star continues to learn the tactical intricacies of the team’s style.
Amorim stated:
“It will be several weeks. I don’t know the exact date, but he is going to be out for a long time. We are going to help him. It’s really hard for a player to be out for so long, but he’s trying really hard.
Mount, 25, was forced leave the field due to an injury in the 14th minute of Sunday’s Manchester derby.

Mount’s Injury Struggles
Signed from Chelsea in 2023 for £55 million, Mount has faced consistent fitness issues, appearing in only 33 of the 78 potential games for Manchester United. A calf injury kept him out for nearly four months last season, and a hamstring problem hindered his progress earlier this campaign.
Amorim expressed his intent to integrate Mount into his 3-4-3 system once he recovers, highlighting his role as a potential starting No. 10. He emphasized using Mount’s recovery period to help the player better understand United’s tactical philosophy.
“We’ll use this time to teach Mase how to play our game even while he’s recovering. The challenge lies in balancing training and recovery, as game intensity is entirely different from training drills,” Amorim explained.
Managing Injuries Across the Squad
Amorim acknowledged the broader struggles with injuries in the squad, referencing players like Victor Osimhen, who faced similar challenges upon returning to match fitness. He highlighted the difficulty of replicating match conditions during recovery due to the team’s busy schedule of games and travel.
“Rotation helps, but it’s hard to have the full squad at optimal training conditions. With Mason, like Antony, we will provide every support to help them regain their best form.”
Looking Ahead
While Mason Mount’s injury is a significant blow, Amorim’s approach demonstrates a long-term vision to ensure the player returns stronger, both physically and mentally. With the right guidance, Mount could become a pivotal figure in Amorim’s tactical setup.
