Ruud van Nistelrooy Leaves Manchester United After Ruben Amorim Appointment
Manchester United has officially announced the departure of Ruud van Nistelrooy following the arrival of new head coach, Ruben Amorim, at Old Trafford.
Van Nistelrooy, who returned to Manchester United in July on a two-year contract, initially served as Erik ten Hag’s assistant. After Ten Hag’s dismissal last month, Van Nistelrooy took over as interim manager, leading United in four matches. His tenure saw wins against Leicester City in the EFL Cup and PAOK in the Europa League, a 1-1 draw with Chelsea, and a resounding 3-0 victory over Leicester in the Premier League.
Despite his positive impact, Amorim, who began his tenure on Monday, chose not to retain Van Nistelrooy. Manchester United has stated that the new coaching staff will be confirmed shortly.
The club praised Van Nistelrooy, describing him as “a Manchester United legend” and expressing gratitude for his contributions during his time in the coaching role.
In addition to Van Nistelrooy, assistant Rene Hake, goalkeeping coach Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and analyst Pieter Morel have also left the club. Darren Fletcher, however, will remain in his coaching position, continuing his work with both the first team and the academy.
