Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi has faced challenges finding his form during his debut season in Serie A with Inter Milan. Despite these struggles, under Iran’s national team coach Amir Ghalenoei, Taremi has showcased remarkable performance, netting 20 goals in just 26 games, including two braces and three hat-tricks.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ghalenoei made bold comparisons between Taremi and legendary forward Edin Džeko. “I’ll say this: Taremi is even more complete,” he remarked. “He excels both as a center forward and a second striker. From a technical perspective, he surpasses the Bosnian. Taremi can play between the lines, drop back, create play, and set up his teammates, making him a more well-rounded player.”
Ghalenoei emphasized Taremi’s tactical adaptability, stating, “He can perform exceptionally alongside both Thuram and Lautaro Martínez, adjusting seamlessly to their styles. His versatility on the field is one of his greatest strengths.”
