Chelsea Fully Back Mykhailo Mudryk After Anti-Doping Test, Says Enzo Maresca
Chelsea have reaffirmed their full trust in Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk (23) after he was contacted by the Football Association (FA) over an adverse analytical finding from a routine anti-doping test. Speaking on Wednesday, coach Enzo Maresca (44) emphasized the club’s unwavering support for Mudryk during this challenging period.
Mudryk, who moved to Chelsea in January 2023 from Shakhtar Donetsk, expressed his shock at the FA’s findings and stated that he has “never knowingly used any banned substances or broken any rules.” Chelsea echoed this sentiment, confirming their belief in the player’s integrity and commitment to the game.
Maresca stressed the importance of rallying around Mudryk, saying, “The club, the coaching staff, and everyone at the training ground support and trust Mykhailo. It’s my duty, alongside the club and teammates, to stand by him.”
Despite limited playing opportunities this season due to illness and competition within the squad, Mudryk has shown progress on the training ground. Maresca noted that the young winger’s talent and recent improvements have been evident, with Chelsea remaining confident in his potential to deliver on the pitch.
Mudryk has made 73 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 10 goals and providing 9 assists since his arrival. With the club’s trust and backing, both Maresca and Chelsea are optimistic about his future contributions as he navigates this difficult moment.
