Chelsea’s La Liga Transfer Strategy Continues
The Blues have been actively scouting La Liga talents, and their pursuit is expected to extend into the 2025 summer transfer window. During the recent January window, Chelsea attempted to secure multiple signings but were unsuccessful.
One of their prime targets was Deportivo La Coruña winger Yeremay Hernández, but their bid fell short. They also made a late push to sign Dario Essugo, who has been making waves at Las Palmas while on loan from Sporting CP.
Chelsea Leading the Race for Essugo
While Las Palmas cannot secure Essugo permanently, Chelsea are now focused on bringing the 19-year-old to Stamford Bridge. According to Marca, the Premier League giants are preparing a €25M offer to sign the talented pivot from Sporting CP.
However, Chelsea face stiff competition for Essugo’s signature. Spanish side Real Sociedad hopes to keep him in La Liga, while clubs like West Ham United, AFC Bournemouth, Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Napoli are also monitoring his situation.
Midfield Shake-Up at Chelsea?
Essugo has shined during his spell in Spain, and Sporting CP may struggle to hold onto him this summer. With Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi heavily linked with Arsenal, Essugo could be a potential successor.
