Arsenal Suffer Major Injury Setback as Gabriel Martinelli Limps Off Against Newcastle

Arsenal have been hit with another injury setback as Gabriel Martinelli was forced off during the 37th minute of their Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Newcastle at St James’ Park. The 23-year-old winger went down clutching his hamstring before limping off the pitch and heading straight down the tunnel.

Teenage star Ethan Nwaneri replaced Martinelli, but his injury adds to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s growing list of fitness concerns. The Gunners are already without Bukayo Saka, who underwent hamstring surgery in December and is not expected back until spring, while star striker Gabriel Jesus has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury.

If Martinelli is sidelined for an extended period, Arsenal could be left with just four senior attacking options, putting their Premier League and cup ambitions under serious threat.
