Premier League Clubs Eye Oscar Mingueza as Celta Vigo Prepare for €20M Exit
Former Barcelona defender Oscar Mingueza could be on the move this January, as several Premier League clubs express interest in activating his €20M release clause.
Celta Vigo Ready for Life Without Mingueza
According to Relevo, Celta Vigo has already started planning for Mingueza’s potential departure. The club is reportedly targeting Alaves winger Carlos Vicente as a replacement for the versatile 25-year-old, who has been excelling in a right wing-back role this season.
Vicente as a Replacement
Celta are prepared to table a €5M offer for Vicente, considering him an ideal fit for the position Mingueza currently occupies. However, it remains unclear if Alaves will accept this amount, as their asking price for the winger has yet to be disclosed.
Barcelona’s Financial Stake
Celta Vigo would only retain 50% of Mingueza’s transfer fee, with Barcelona entitled to the other €10M due to their retained rights over the player. This arrangement ensures that the Blaugrana remain invested in Mingueza’s future transfers.
