Man United and Real Madrid in the Race for the Talented Left-Back – Miguel Gutierrez
Miguel Gutierrez’s future has been a hot topic throughout 2024, with speculation growing around the young Spanish left-back. Girona managed to keep him during the summer transfer window, but holding onto him in 2025 may prove to be a much bigger challenge.
Recent reports suggest that Real Madrid are considering re-signing Gutierrez, especially as their pursuit of Alphonso Davies appears to be faltering. With Davies likely to extend his stay at Bayern Munich, Gutierrez has emerged as a strong alternative. At just €8 million, he presents an attractive Plan B for Los Blancos.
However, the transfer race has intensified as Manchester United have now entered the fray. According to talkSPORT (via ED), United’s new head coach, Ruben Amorim, has approved a potential move for the 23-year-old, whose release clause is set at €35 million.
Girona, however, are unlikely to entertain offers below this amount. If a deal is struck, Real Madrid stand to earn €17.5 million due to their 50% rights to Gutierrez. The upcoming summer transfer window will undoubtedly be pivotal in determining the young defender’s next destination.
